The fate of Marie Dubsky of Trebomyslitz, whose married name was von Ebner-Eschenbach, is little known in the Czech environment. Although she was born in the Hana region near Kromeriz and continued to visit her birthplace throughout her long life, and despite making her native land and its people the central themes of her most important and widely read literary works, it is sadly the case that a century after her death both she and her work are known to just a few Czech experts.
